On August 26, 2026, the PGA TOUR announced its 2027 schedule, from the season opener through the TOUR Championship. The schedule shifts a little every year, but 2027 brings bigger changes than usual. The January Hawaii swing is gone, and the order of events changes in Florida in March and in Texas in the spring.
This article puts the 2026 and 2027 schedules side by side and walks through what changes, then finishes with a practical summary for fans.
As of: October 11, 2026. Based on the PGA TOUR's official announcement (August 26, 2026) and reporting from NBC Sports, Golf Channel, CBS Sports and others. Dates are the local tournament days (normally Thursday to Sunday). Sources are listed at the end.

| Valspar Championship | Mar 19-22 | May 6-9 |
| Detroit event (Rocket Classic) | Jul 30 - Aug 2 | Ended |
| New event | — | Sompo Championship (Napa, Jul 29 - Aug 1) |
| Greensboro event | Wyndham Championship | Renamed GO by Raymond James |
| BMW Championship venue | Bellerive (Missouri) | Liberty National (New Jersey) |
| Events (through the TOUR Championship) | 37 | 36 (including one TBD slot) |
| Signature Events | 8 (excluding the cancelled Sentry) | 8 (never in back-to-back weeks) |
*1 The scheduled opener was The Sentry (Jan 8-11, Kapalua, Maui), which was cancelled.
1. No Hawaii: the season opens in California
The biggest change in 2027 is that the two January events in Hawaii are gone.
- The Sentry was cancelled in 2026 because of a water shortage at Kapalua on Maui. In 2027 it moves to Torrey Pines in San Diego. Farmers Insurance ended its 17-year title sponsorship there after 2026, and The Sentry takes over that slot. To avoid the NFL conference championship games, it runs on an unusual Wednesday-to-Saturday schedule.
- The Sony Open becomes "Sony Championship Hawaii", an event on the senior PGA TOUR Champions (Jan 14-16, Waialae Country Club).
As a result, the PGA TOUR will not play in Hawaii for the first time in about 56 years (NBC Sports). The season opens on January 21 with The American Express (La Quinta, California), followed by the rest of the West Coast swing.
Also, the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am (Feb 4-7) and the WM Phoenix Open (Feb 11-14) swap places. With the U.S. Open at Pebble Beach in June, 2027 is a year in which the top players play Pebble Beach twice.
2. March in Florida: Signature, PLAYERS, Signature
The order of the Florida events changes a lot.
| 2026 | 2027 | |
|---|---|---|
| Late Feb - 1st week of Mar | Cognizant Classic (Feb 26 - Mar 1) | Cognizant Classic (Feb 25-28) |
| 2nd week of Mar | Arnold Palmer Invitational (Mar 5-8) | Cadillac Championship (Mar 4-7, Doral) |
| 3rd week of Mar | THE PLAYERS (Mar 12-15) | THE PLAYERS (Mar 11-14) |
| 4th week of Mar | Valspar Championship (Mar 19-22) | Arnold Palmer Invitational (Mar 18-21) |
The Cadillac Championship, new in 2026 at Trump National Doral in Miami, moves from May to March. The Arnold Palmer Invitational takes the Valspar Championship's date, and the Valspar moves to May.
As a result, the weeks before and after THE PLAYERS are both Signature Events. Expect a strong March, with the top players competing in Florida three weeks in a row.
3. April-May: Texas and May are reshuffled
- THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson moves three weeks earlier, from late May to Apr 29 - May 2.
- The Valspar Championship moves to May 6-9.
- The Truist Championship (May 13-16) and the PGA Championship (May 20-23) each move one week later.
- The Charles Schwab Challenge follows the PGA (May 27-30), and the Memorial Tournament comes the week after that (Jun 3-6).
According to Golf Channel, in 2027 no two Signature Events are played in consecutive weeks. In 2026, Pebble Beach and the Genesis (February) and the Cadillac and the Truist (May) were back to back. Fewer "rest weeks" between big events should make it less likely that top players skip events and leave fields uneven.
4. Major championship venues
| 2026 | 2027 | |
|---|---|---|
| Masters | Augusta National (Apr 9-12) | Augusta National (Apr 8-11) |
| PGA Championship | Aronimink (Pennsylvania, May 14-17) | PGA Frisco (Texas, May 20-23), first time |
| U.S. Open | Shinnecock Hills (New York, Jun 18-21) | Pebble Beach (California, Jun 17-20) |
| The Open | Royal Birkdale (England, Jul 16-19) | St Andrews (Scotland, Jul 15-18) |
The PGA Championship will be played for the first time on the new Fields Ranch East course in Frisco, Texas, home of the PGA of America's headquarters.
5. Summer: Detroit ends, a new event in Napa
The last weeks of the regular season change too.
- The Rocket Classic in Detroit ended in 2026 after eight years.
- In its place comes the new Sompo Championship (Silverado Resort, Napa, Jul 29 - Aug 1).
- The Greensboro event (the Wyndham Championship through 2026) is renamed GO by Raymond James and becomes the regular-season finale (Aug 5-8).
The three playoff events keep their current format.
| 2027 dates and venue | |
|---|---|
| FedEx St. Jude Championship | Aug 12-15, TPC Southwind (Tennessee) |
| BMW Championship | Aug 19-22, Liberty National (New Jersey) |
| TOUR Championship | Aug 26-29, East Lake (Georgia), 30 players |
What is not decided yet
As of October 11, 2026, the following have not been officially announced.
- The "TBD" slot on Feb 18-21, the same week as the Genesis Invitational. Its name and venue are not set. Golf Channel reports that the Puerto Rico Open is expected to fill it, but there is no official announcement yet. The PGA TOUR's media schedule page does not list this slot.
- The 2027 fall schedule (FedExCup Fall). The official announcement says it will come "at a later date". The 2026 fall has eight events, including the Baycurrent Classic in Japan, but whether there will be an event in Japan in 2027 is not yet known.
- Eligibility for the new 2028 structure. 2027 is described as the last season of the current format. From 2028 the Tour moves to a two-tier model and a new season-ending format (including match play) has been announced and reported. Eligibility details are expected before the end of 2026.
We will update this article when there is new information.
A practical summary for fans
1. January starts a little later. With no Hawaii events, the 2027 season starts on January 21. For viewers in Asia, Hawaii broadcasts fell in the morning; California events are broadcast mostly in the very early morning.
2. Every week in March is big. Cadillac, THE PLAYERS and the Arnold Palmer run three weeks in a row, putting the strongest fields together in one stretch.
3. Watch Pebble Beach in June. The U.S. Open is played on the same course as the February Pro-Am. You can compare how the same greens play in winter and in summer: their speed and firmness.
4. Know when the grass on the greens changes. The West Coast events in January and February (Torrey Pines, Pebble Beach, Riviera) are played on greens with a lot of Poa annua, which tend to get bumpy in the afternoon. Florida in March is mostly Bermuda grass greens, where grain has a bigger effect. This is one reason the same player can putt differently from one part of the season to the next. For green speed, see "What is a Stimpmeter?"; for reading greens, see "Three things to look at first when reading a green".
5. Keep an eye on the open items. The February slot and the fall schedule are still to be announced.
